Rocky Top #12! | “Memories” on SiriusXM Charts!

The original recording of Rocky Top made by me and my brother as the Osborne Brothers was #12 on the Nielsen Soundscan charts for the week ending on 04/10!  Rocky Top was originally released on December 25, 1967 on Decca Records and it’s still going just as strong as it ever did!  I’ve said it many times before, Rocky Top is the best present I’ve ever gotten.

Also, Mountain Fever featuring Russel Moore, from the new CD “Memories”, is #3 on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction’s Most-Played songs chart!  The album itself is also #3 on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction’s Most-Played albums chart!

Six Strings of Banjo!

Hi Everyone!  Bobby Osborne here!

In case you don’t know yet, the surprise I mentioned yesterday was the first use of a six-string banjo in the band by Michael Toppins (Chicken as we call him) since my brother Sonny used one back in the ’70s!  The banjo was made for me by Arthur Hatfield of the Hatfield Banjo Company in Glasgow, Kentucky, and will be featured by Chicken on all Opry appearances and road shows and any future recordings.  I want to thank Mr. Hatfield for making such great sounding (and great looking) banjo.  If you want to see the banjo at some upcoming shows, I will remind you that we will be at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop taping the Midnight Jamboree at 10:00 PM on Saturday, March 19th, and at the Station Inn at 9:00 PM on Friday March 25th, and in Nacogdoches, TX at the Stephen F. Austin State University on April 7th, which is a part of the American Bluegrass Masters Tour, or any of our upcoming shows in 2011!

Thanks again to Arthur Hatfield, and to all the fans who support me and the Rocky Top X-Press, and we look forward to seeing this year!

P.S.  I will be putting a few pictures up of the banjo soon!
